Day 1
Garni Temple

By choosing this route, your first sightseeing place will be Garni pagan temple, Located in the Kotayk province, on the right bank of the river Azat. It’s a Armenia’s historical and cultural monument. Probably the castle was built in the 2nd century BC. It is assumed that the temple was dedicated to the sun god Mitra-Areg. After the adoption of the Christian religion it was the summer room of King Trdats III’s sister, Khosrovdukht. The temple was destroyed by the 1679 earthquake. The temple was reconstructed in 1969-75.

Day 2
Geghard Monastery

After Garni you will visit Geghard Monastery Complex, situated in the Kotayk province, on the right bank of Azat river. The famous spear with which the Roman soldier pierced Christ’s side was kept here. The monastery is listed in the UNESCO world heritage sight. According to tradition the monastery was founded after adaptation Christianity as a state religion by Grigor the Illuminator.

Lavash Baking and Barbeque Master Class
